Death of President Ebrahim Raisi, Others Nigeria Commiserates With Iran

The Federal Government of Nigeria commiserates with the Government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the tragic helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan Province that led to the death of His Excellency Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and some other top government officials including Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Sunday 19th May, 2024.

This was contained in a statement signed by Amb. Eche Abu-Obe, Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which reads in part: “Nigeria is deeply saddened by this tragic incident, which represents a huge loss not only to the Iranian people but to the world at large.

Nigeria stands in solidarity with Iran in these trying times and extends heartfelt condolences to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the families of the departed and the people of Iran.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace, “it also added.
