A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has rejected the results of the 2023 presidential election so far declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Dogara alleged that INEC has been compromised and the figures being released by the electoral umpire do not reflect it was able to conduct a free, fair, and credible election.
While describing the process as a sham, the former Speaker called on President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene.
Dogara who was reacting to the statement by former President Olusegun Obasanjo calling for elections to be cancelled in areas where compromise allegedly took place, also accused INEC of collecting money to present doctored reports to members of the public.
Writing on his Twitter page, Dogara said: “If PMB allows this sham to stand, then my simple request to him is to order INEC to share whatever they got for cooking this result with the masses as compensation for the needless hardship they endured due to the Naira redesign policy.
“INEC could never have done this for free!”
He added: “I am absolutely gutted because I had so much faith in @inecnigeria and helped to propagate the lies that it was ready for a free, fair and credible election.
“Now, I realize, it was a farcical illusion that was sold to me.”
