Doyin Okupe identifies 7 problems of Nigeria’s democracy

Former Director General of the Labour Party campaign organisation, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has listed seven problems bedevilling Nigeria’s democracy.

Okupe in a tweet on Monday identified pervasive corruption, illiteracy, crippling poverty, massive youth unemployment, lack of respect for rule of law, the malleability of the judiciary and the absence of the fear of God as problems affecting Nigeria’s democracy.

According to him, no amount of ‘change mantras’ in politics, or activism of the youth will change the status quo.

“We must find a way to deal with the above 7 demons and collectively pray and ask God to change our hearts towards righteousness & godliness.

“Else, we go round these unprogressive cycles endlessly,” he added.
