The Department of State Services (DSS) has finally released the passport and mobile phone of Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
It would be recalled that phones and International Passport belonging Ajaero were ceased following his arrest and detention on Monday, in Abuja.
Earlier, Raye24reporters reported that the NLC president was picked up the DSS operatives at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja while on his way to the United Kingdom to attend the Trade Union Congress conference in London.
He was later granted administrative bail after an extended period of detention.
However, Ajaero’s arrrest and detention had triggered concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding his arrest.
However, lawyers close to the NLC president told SaharaReporters that the DSS was later forced to release Ajaero’s passport and mobile phones.
“They refused to release his passport and initially his phones but returned his phone last night after he refused to leave the DSS headquarters without his phones.
“This morning (Tuesday), they finally released his passport to him through his lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, from the Femi & Falana’s Chambers. They held back his passport because they did not want him to travel,” the source said.
