The Former Governor of Anambra State Willie Obiano, has been arrested by The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Obiano who just handed over less than twenty-four hours ago to Governor Chukwuma Soludo was nabbed at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Thursday night around 8.30pm.
The arrest has also been confirmed by a source at the EFCC who preferred not to be named.
According to the source, “EFCC today, March 17, 2022, picked up ex-governor Obiano of Anambra State.
“The former governor who has been on the Commission’s watchlist was arrested at the Murtala Mohammad International Airport Lagos at about 8.30pm as he prepared to board a flight to Houston, USA.”
The spokesman of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren has also confirmed the arrest but promised to give details later.
“It is true. He was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport around 8.30pm,” Uwujaren said on phone.
