As the #EndBadGovernance in Nigeria protest continues into its third day, there are reports of harassment against protesters in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
This report was confirmed by former presidential aspirant and activist, Omoyele Sowore, who alleged via X that both the Nigeria Police Force and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have been harassing protesters at the MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja.
Sowore stated that there were indications of individuals arriving at the scene to attack activists, with government-sponsored thugs also anticipated to join in the attack.
“BREAKING: @PoliceNG arrive scene of Abuja #EndBadGovernaceInNigerianow to attack activists, @OfficialDSSNG on their way too with govt sponsored thugs to do the same thing”, Sowore wrote.
Lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has corroborated Sowore’s claims, affirming that the police are indeed harassing protesters at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
“The police are currently harassing protesters at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja,” Adeyanju wrote in X.
The nationwide protest, which began on Thursday, August 1, reflects the dissatisfaction of Nigerians regarding the prevailing hardships and suffering across the country.
Unfortunately, there have been reports of police mistreatment of protesters nationwide.
