Falgore: Ministries and public institutions should be mindful of public funds spending

The speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Jibrin Ismail Falgore, has expressed deep concern over the alleged reckless spending of government funds by certain government agencies and ministries in Kano State.

The speaker said state resources should be allocated to benefit the entire population and serve the public good, rather than reckless spending by a few elements.

In a statement signed by the spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, it reads: “We are troubled by the sheer insensitivity displayed by some government agencies and ministries concerning financial recklessness, which is not remitted to the government coffers.”

Furthermore, Rt Hon Speaker said, “We will not sit idly by and allow affected agencies and ministries to exploit the resources of our beloved state. We will strongly oppose this and call upon the ministries, departments, and agencies to remit their unspent balance.”

“We believe that the amount generated from these ministries is sufficient to fund other projects,”

he added. He also reaffirms the Kano State House of Assembly’s commitment to working closely with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to achieve positive results in terms of the prudent use of government funds.
