Five dies, 8 others hospitalized, several houses destroyed over flood in Jigawa

Over 407 people have become homeless as flood wash away their home in Koya village of Miga Local Government yesterday night.

The chairman of the council Alhaji Admu Sarki Miga, who confirmed the incident, explained that over 400 homes were destroyed by flood and families are now taking refuge at public building as 1,674 persons are now rendered homeless.

According to the staff officer in Miga ward at Unguwar Kadawa, Alhaji Adamu Sarki Mija, said that houses destroyed by flood are over 200 and over 400 people are currently displaced.

In another development the flood also destroyed over 110 houses in Nasarawa village of Miga local government and about 180 person are now homeless.

The chairman further explained that over 210 houses were destroyed in Hantsu town and over 725 person are taking cover at public building.

Also in Zabon Garin Takanebu village the council has confirmed that over 1,096 persons registered as flood victims and 2,335 room destroyed by water 

Adding that in Tsakuwawa village over 250 rooms collapsed and over 493 people became flood victims 

He explained further that in Yanduna village 444 homes were affected and 348 person are now sleeping in public building

The chairman confirmed that 1,884 homes are completely destroyed in Zarailu town and no fewer than 483 people are taking shelters in public building.

He also confirmed that a women sustained injury and one person died as building collapsed in the area.

The chairman confirmed that 935 homes were also destroyed by flood in Garbo village and 359 persons have been displaced.

The council chairman added that in Sansa I ward over 1,044 homes were destroyed by flood and over 1,248 persons are currently displaced now sleeping in primary schools and other public building.

The chairman said a canoe mishap in Sansa I river also killed two persons while seven others hospitalized.

Adding that three year old baby boy also died in Miga river and a 14 years old mentally challenged girl died inside Miga river and one malam Dauda Dalladallah 48 years old man also died in Miga river yesterday
