Gov Wike Inaugurates First Set of 100,000 Special Assistants

Governor Nyesom Wike, of Rivers State  on Thursday, inaugurated the first set of the 100,000 special assistants he recently appointed to take charge of political units ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The governor while congratulating the aides said they should see it as an opportunity to serve in one of the most prestigious states in the country.

Wike told his special aides at the inauguration at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium, Omagwa in Ikwerre local government area of the state that henceforth the decision concerning the direction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Rivers lies in their hands.

The first set of appointees inaugurated today are from the Rivers west and Rivers southeast senatorial districts of the state.

He explained that part of their responsibilities as special assistants is to understand the thoughts of the people in their various political units and then give him feedback on impressions of the people in all the 319 Wards and 32 local governments through the constituency liaison officers recently appointed, who would eventually transmit same to his office.

He said: “Now your own is the most important because it is you that hear directly from the people. It is you that knows the feelings of the people about us. It is you that will come and tell us, look, this is what my people are saying.

“This is a political period, hear from the people. What are they saying? So, you’ll be able to advise the governor, so I will know what decision to take. It is you who will determine what decision the people of Rivers State will take at the end of the day,” the Governor added.
