Suspected herdsmen strike in Benue community killing no fewer than 11 persons including children on Thursday morning, April 22.
Raye24reporters gathered that several others were missing in the renewed attack on Waya community, Jato-Aka, Turan district of Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.
Sources in the community said the attack occured at about 11am on that fateful morning while most of the people were working on their farms.
The gunmen attacked the community in Jato Aka and were killing them on the farm silently from one farm to the other.
The source who identified himself as Lawrence Akerigba said that on getting wind of the attack, he immediately alerted security agencies.
He said, “A family of five was wiped out completely including their one year old and three year-old kids.
“When I heard about the attack, I quickly alerted troops of the OPWS and the NSCDC who swiftly moved to the scene, but when the Fulani terrorists saw them coming, they abandoned their cattle and fled to unknown destinations.
“More people are missing. They killed each person they saw working on their farms.”
The names of the severely mutilated bodies recovered are; Gbaeren Orsoo, Terdoo Tsega, Bemdoo Tsega, Abacha Tsega, Terkaa Tsega, Aôndoaseer Tyov, Iorhen Atim and Aôndowase Igba among others.
As at the time of filing this report, corpses of those slain in the attack were said to have been deposited at the Jato-Aka mortuary.
