Justice Oyindamola Ogala of a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja has sentenced a 30 year-old hotel staff, Ehizogie Jeffrey, to death by hanging for killing the manager and a United Kingdom (UK) returnee.
The judge found him guilty of the murder charge filed against him by the state government.
The state government alleged that Ehizogie and others at large strangled a UK returnee, Sola Olusoga, to death with a rope on January 25, 2019 at an hotel in Lagos.
The defendant and others at large also killed one Tunji Omikunle, the manager of the hotel, by strangling and beating him to death.
He was also alleged to have taken a key from the manager’s pocket, opened Olusola’s apartment, entered and strangled him to death.
“Having found the defendant, Jeffrey Ehizogie guilty of the two counts of murder, the sentence of the court upon you, Jeffrey Ehizogie, is that you would be hanged by the neck until you are dead.
“May the Lord have mercy on your soul,” the court held.
