Manchester United ex-manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has disclosed that he suggested buying Norwegian football star, Erling Haaland in 2018.
He told UK Sun that he recommended £4million be paid for the forward, but United’s management refused.
According to Solskjaer, this happened six months before he took charge at Old Trafford.
In the same year, Haaland moved to Red Bull Salzburg and later played for Borussia Dortmund before his £51.2 million move to United’s rivals Manchester City last year.
Solskjaer said; “I called United about six months before I took over and told them that I’d got this striker that we had but they didn’t listen.
“I asked for £4million for Haaland but they didn’t sign him”.
In other news, boxing champion, Anthony Joshua has said he wants to go into retirement while still in a vibrant and healthy state.
He noted that his goal is to make sure he is not nursing his boxing wounds well into old age.
The Two-time heavyweight champion, in a recent interview with Men’s Health, added that he is going to judge a part of his legacy with his health.
“In boxing, people walk in the gym one way and not many walk out the same way, because of the trauma and the stuff they put their body through. I want my legacy to be, I walked out healthy.
“Imagine me at the age of 50 or 60 in a wheelchair and fragile because of the trauma I put my body through. My legacy should be when I’m old, I’m still fresh. I want people to say, ‘Oh wow, he still looks good, he still looks after himself.’ That’s a legacy,” he said.
