The former Governor of Ebonyi State, senator David Umahi, was granted a brief interview by the Africa Independent Television (AIT) on Thursday where he reacted over his nomination as a minister.
Senator David Umahi said, “I think the choice of nominating me as a minister was entirely made by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu because I never met him one-on-one before the nomination.”
Speaking further, David Umahi said, “before the inauguration of the senate, the current governor of my state, Francis Nwifiru, suggested that I should be made a minister during one of our meetings in Abuja and I told him that I wanted to rest but now that it has happened, we the people of Ebonyi State, are thankful for the opportunity.”
Again, Senator David Umahi said, “when I told the Governor of my state that I needed to rest, he went ahead to report me to one of our friends.”
Senator David Umahi said further said, “if I recall, there were three people President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu made promises to and I supported the promises. For now, I don’t know the ministry I will be serving but all of you should join me in thanking President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
