The Nigeria Immigration Service have parade eight suspected victims of human trafficking who were intercepted by officers of the command in Jigawa state on 11 October 2023 at Dutse motor park.
The victims include six female and two male between the ages of 18 to 24 years and majority of them are from Benue state.
Subsequently the officers also arrested one Emaka John and Peter Dickson who were suspected to be trafficker, their arrest was made following the confessional statement by victim who told the officer that they were told not to inform any of the security agents, that they are in Jigawa to act as vendors for New supplement of New Life International company.
However, during investigation the officers discovered they were deceived just to get them trafficked across the border from Jigawa state to Niger Republic and ward to North Africa where they will board them in ship.
The officers explained that the two traffickers position themselves as lawyers based in Gboko Peter Dickson while the host in Dutse chief Oliver Okechuku based at Dutse who was arranged for the transit and accommodation of the victim at Dutse .
The officer gathered that the traffickers the failed plan was to forward the victims to the last lawyer Mr Emeka John who based in Hadejia who also arrange their final transit to cross the border to Niger Republic.
The Jigawa state comptroller of the Nigerian immigration service, Mr. Samson Umar Agada confirmed the arrest while briefing the newsmen.
He appealed to parent to always watch over their children from being deceived by likes of Peter Dickson who promise the young kids of better life abroad not minding the consequences of going through the illegal routes with hazards
