Imo State Ex-Deputy Governor, Ebere Udeagu Dies at 79

A former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Ebere Udeagu has been confirmed dead.

His demise was confirmed on Monday by a former governor of the state, Ikedi Ohakim.

Ohakim made the disclosure via his social media page after posting a condolence message to sympathize with the family and friends of the former politician who died at the age of 79.

He said that the passing away of the former Deputy Governor popularly known as Chinemeze was saddening.

Also in a terse condolence message handed to newsmen in Owerri on Monday by one of his assistants, Emmanuel Chukwu, Ohakim said the Okigwe zone, Imo State, and Nigeria as a whole have lost a classic elder statesman who was dedicated to a better society.

Between 1999 to 2007, Udeagu, a former vice presidential candidate for the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), assisted former governor Achike Udenwa in his duties as governor.

Udeagu an educated water engineer from Ihube in the Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State, passed away early on Monday in Owerri.
