The Ibadan Zonal Command of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, February 10, 2022, secured the conviction of four internet fraudsters before Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court and Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court, both sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State for their involvement in internet fraud.
The convicts are: Basit Adekunmi Adebayo, Ishola Akinyemi Labayo (aka Lorenzo Agostinelli), Idris Gbadamosi (aka Juliet Brown) and Oyewole Samod Tunde (aka Kelley Patrick).
Oyewole Samod Tunde, Idris Gbadamosi Babatunde and Ishola Akinyemi Labayo were arraigned before Justice Agomoh on separate charges while Basit Adekunmi Adebayo was docked before Justice Akintola.
Upon their arraignments, they all pleaded “guilty” to the charges preferred against them.
In view of their pleas, the prosecution counsel, Murtala Usman reviewed the facts of the cases and urged the courts to convict and sentence the defendants as charged.
Justice Agomoh convicted and sentenced Ishola Akinyemi Labayo and Idris Gbadamosi to seven months imprisonment each while Oyewole Samod Tunde bagged five months.
The Court ordered that Ishola Akinyemi Labayo restitute $102USD (One Hundred and Two United States Dollars) to his victim. He is to forfeit one iPhone 12 Pro Max to the Federal government of Nigeria.
According to a statement signed on Friday by Wilson Uwujaren, Head, Media & Publicity for the agency. The court also ordered Idris Gbadamosi to pay the sum of $170USD (One Hundred and Seventy United States Dollars) and N150, 000. 00 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) in restitution and forfeit One Toyota Camry and one iPhone 12 Pro Max to the Federal government of Nigeria.
Oyewole Samod Tunde was ordered to pay the sum of $650USD (Six Hundred and Fifty United States Dollars) and N1, 000,000. 00 (One Million Naira) in restitution and forfeit one Samsung Galaxy S20 mobile phone to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Justice Akintola convicted and sentenced Basit Adekunmi Adebayo to two months community service.
The convict was ordered to restitute €100 (One Hundred Euro) and N250, 000. 00 (Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) to one Christiana.
Also, the convict forfeits one iPhone 11 mobile phone to the Federal Government.
