Nigeria’s Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission says the internationally branded Koko Beach Resort, located in Lagos, affirms the country’s market as a preferred destination with a robust regulatory environment committed to prioritising consumers’ interests
Acknowledging the Nigerian market as a preferred destination for a broad range of investments, including tourism and a robust and stable regulatory environment enabling prioritising consumers’ interests, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has said it welcomes the first internationally branded resort in the country by Curio Collection by Hilton under a Branding and Management Agreement known as Koko Beach Resort, located at Ilashe, in Lagos State.
The Management of the market regulatory Commission Tuesday, June 27, 2023, stated the investment has demonstrated confidence in Nigeria, its market and potential, as well as Hilton’s partner on this project, Outposts Investment Limited, all affirm the West African country’s market as a preferred destination for a broad range of investments.
The Commission noted these include the tourism sector of the economy, coupled with a robust and stable regulatory environment that ensures a level-playing field/fair play and an abiding commitment to prioritising consumers’ interests.
The Management of FCCPC said pursuant to Section 17 (p) and (y) of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, 2018, the Commission encourages industry to develop and enforce standards to safeguard the interests of Nigerian consumers.
“This partnership and branding by a global and respected brand and manager provide reasonable expectations and presumptions of international standards of quality, safety and satisfactory services,” said the regulator.
The statement further said the Commission congratulated all parties to the new investment, while looking forward to welcoming other industry players and the provision of innovation, choices and superior services to consumers in the country.
