I’ve used the Law to advance democracy in Nigeria – Keyamo

The immediate past Minster of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has said he has used the instrumentality of the law to advance the course of democracy in the country.

While addressing members of the Red Chamber during his ministerial screening on Monday, Keyamo said he is no stranger to the legal and political ecosystem of Nigeria.

Asserting his reliance on the law as a tool for fostering democracy, Keyamo said he and other young lawyers pushed for the release of rights advocates during the struggle by the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO).

The former minister underscored his faith in the law’s ability to promote transparency, fairness, and accountability, which are the principles that underpin a healthy democracy.

Keyamo also spotlighted the importance of ardent defenders of democratic values and the rule of law, saying that it is through his legal undertakings that he rose to be chosen as a minister under the Buhari-led administration.

The minister added that it is the impact made that has further given him the opportunity to be chosen by President Bola Tinubu to also serve in his cabinet
