Jahi Community in Abuja Ends Year 2022 With Funfair

In an effort to end the year 2022 in a happy note and promote oneness regardless of culture, religion and to promote, sustain co-existence amongst residence living in Jahi 1 Zone E, a community in Abuja the Nation Capital, has marked the 3rd edition of its end of year party, tagged: Get Together/Funfair.

The funfair, which featured Bouncing Castle, Spelling Bee, Dancing Competition for Children also had Medical Checkup program and Ludo, Draft, Ayo and Scramble games for adults where different winners emerged.

The event, which started on the 12th of December came to an end on Friday, December 16 with the issuance of prize gifts to contestants, that took part in different games.

The Chairman of the community, Mr. Charles Nwakibie Ukeje, during his opening speech at the event, thanked God for making it possible for every member of the community to see the year come to an end and that no life was lost in the community.

He gave a brief historical background of the community, stating the condition of the community when few other members and his family moved into the community.

According to him, when they came into the community, the road wasn’t motorable and also the power supply in terms of electricity was epileptic.

In his words: “I want to thank God for making us see this day and to also make it, since the beginning of this year no death has been recorded in this community and I gave God the glory for that. Let me give a historical background of how this community started”.

“When we came into the community, with few other persons, there is only one road leading into the community which isn’t not motorable and only two wire brought light into the community which can’t power an Air Condition but now i and members of my team, have increased the electricity capacity in the community”.

“Then if you pack your car, you must remove your battery but now security in the community has greatly improved, you can now park your car and go to sleep without any fear of someone removing your car battery”.

The Chairman planning committee, Mr. Bello Lanre, during an interview with Raye24reporters, noted that the reason for the celebration is to thank God for all He has done.

According to him, the Zone has been cooperating wonderfully well and this cooperation is what led to the marking of its 3rd edition and end of the year party.

He said, “The decoration and beautification that you see, is all in preparation for the end of the year party and funfair that will be holding this evening”.

“Despite the fact that the condition of the country isn’t palatable, we need to make people happy and thank God for making them see the last month of 2022”.

“So at the cause of the event, we organized game and competition for residence living in the community and they were happy to participate in the game despite the issues and challenges bordering them and we are all happy and waiting to enjoy ourselves and know ourselves, learn to live in peace with one another and as you can see the DJ is already on ground setting the sound system”.

“It has been said that if you want to get a different result, you must do things differently so the first edition is like an introduction, the second edition was more of practical but I can tell you that this 3rd edition of the end of the year funfair is bigger and better than the previous celebration we’ve had in this community”.

“We started this game three days ago, so in this year end of the party, we want to know the best Ludo player, Draft, Scrabble and Ayo”.

“God will bless each and every one of us in this community and our country and whatever we are doing today, is a sign of appreciation to God for all He has done for us as individuals and community”. he concluded.

The Community Secretary, Mr. Musa Kadri, who also spoke to our Correspondent, explained that In Jahi 1 Zone E, we have a strong coordination out of the five zone that made up Jahi District.

He said “I can confidently tell you that this zone is the best because as a new zone we’re more coordinated because we have people who are saddled with the affairs of the community ranging from the Chairman, Secretary and the rest in making sure that the community is clean and inhabitable.

“In the area of security, the community has a very robust security system that makes sure that people and property are safe in the community.

Mr. Musa, while speaking on the difficulty in organizing the end of the year celebration, disclosed that organizing such an event was not easy looking at the financial constraint that is being faced in the country and he also commended the Chairman planning committee for all the efforts in ensuring that the event came out successful.

He continued: “Organizing such an event isn’t an easy task because of the financial difficulty in the country, which has affected some members of the community but I want to thank the Chairman Planning Committee for his effort in making sure that the event hold as planned”. he stated.
