The Jigawa state government has supplied drugs, worth millions of naira to refuges of Kirikasamma local government area in the state whose houses and farmlands were washed away by the flood caused by over flow of River Jama’are of neighboring Bauchi state.
The permanent secretary of the state Ministry of health Dr. SALISU Mua’azu Babura, disclosed this while handing over the items to the chairman of Kirikasamma local government council of the state Alhaji Isah Adamu Matara at Guri town.
Dr. Salisu, who was represented by the director Emergency of the Ministry of health Dr. Ali Muhammad Sab’iu, said it was aimed at tackling water born diseases and other diseases at the refugees camp.
Dr. Mua’azu, disclosed further that more drugs, medicaments and consumables will also be provided to the flood disaster victims of the area with a view to curtail the spared of water born diseases at the camp.
Responding, the chairman of Kirikasamma local government council Alhaji Isah Adamu Matara, thanked the Jigawa state government for its efforts to improve the health status of the people of Jigawa state through the provision of adequate drugs, medicament and consumables.
He warned officials responsible for distribution of the drugs to the victims that any body caught diverting the drugs will be dealt decisively and then assured the flood victims of his council’s more aids.
Alhaji Matara, therefore solicited the support of the Federal and Jigawa state government for more aids so as to minimize the plight of the victims sot that they may a have a sense of belonging.
