Jigawa Govt Release 18 million to Clear Drainage to Avoid Annual Flooding

The Jigawa state government has released the sum of N18 million for the clearance of water ways in Dutse metropolis to avoid annual flood in the state capital.

This was confirmed by the special advisers on urban rural to governor Badaru Abubakar, Alhaji Najib Falalu Tukur Gantsa.

According to Gantsa said eight local government were selected in the state to enjoy the same service as the state capital benefited.

These local government include Hadejia, Kafin Hausa, kazaure, Gumel, Ringim, Babura, Birnin kudu and Dutse local government respectively 

Falalu, explained that 37 km long drainage within the state capital of Dutse was earmarked by the state government to be designated, the special adviser confirmed that out of the 37 km only two percent is yet to be completed.

He explained that the state government has made all possible arrangement to build a new water way that will solve the annual flooding that threatening communities living around the state capital Dutse.

He therefore charge residents of the selected local government to desist from the habit of dumping refused inside the drainage which annually courses problem due to blockage of water ways.

He therefore inform the people in the state that very soon monthly sanitation will soon commence across the 27 local government areas and the state capital.

He explained further that government will not take it lightly on those that will break the laws by dumping refuse in drainages

The special adviser also debunk the rumour of collecting six million N6m out of the total N18 million approved by the state government for the project as kick back to Jigawa state governor.

He also denied the allegation that he personally picked out N3 million out of that eighteen million.

Which only nine million was allegedly utilised to purchased the working material and clear the drainage 

Gantsa said “it is a lie I have never collect any thing from governor and I did not take any thing out of that N18 million we all spend the money for the projects we purchase the working tools and pay the workers we employed” he states

He explained further that the project was conducted by DCDA staff and other civil society groups in which over 29 self-help groups participated in the programme.

Adding that they did their best in paying all the groups who participate in the programme
