The Jigawa High court sitting in Birnin Kudu presided over by Justice Musa Ubale, in statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Jigawa State Ministry of Justice, Zainab Baba Aliyu Santali, has on Tuesday, delivered a judgment against four men, identified as Umar Danladi, Abdussalam Sale, Auwalu Yunusa and Mu’azu Abdurrahman, for rape offence punishable to life imprisonment under section 283 of the Penal Code Law of Jigawa State 2012 (as amended).
Umar Danladi, who is from Sabuwar Gwaram, Gwaram local government of Jigawa State, allegedly had a canal knowledge of an 8 year old pupil returning from school.
The defendant was arrested and on arraignment denied the charges against him. In effort to prove the charge against the defendant, the prosecution counsel Yahaya Abdullahi Esq (Deputy Director Citizens Right), called on three witnesses, tendered exhibits on statement of the defendant and medical report.
However, the defendant testified as sole witness in his own defense, has no witness.
Similarly, Abdussalam Sale from Rafawa Village Dutse local government, was accused of raping a 12 year old girl he met along Sabon Garin Barnawa to Kishin Gishin Gawa village.
The defendant who sent the victim on an errand, forcefully grabbed her upon her arrival and raped her.
Meanwhile, after his arrest he admits to have committed the offence, but on his arraignment, he denied the charge.
Prosecutor, however, called on three witnesses, who tendered three exhibits on statement of the defendant and medical report.
The defendant on his side, testified as sole witness to his own defense.
In the same vain, one Auwalu Yunusu, who hailed from Kafin Fulani in Gwaram Local Government Area of the state, was accused of raping a 6 year old girl, after returning from an errand by the defendant. the defendant, who forcefully had sexual intercourse her, threatened to kill her if she reveals to anyone.
However, the who finds it difficult in walking, accused Mr. Yunusa as the person who raped her.
In establishing the charge against the defendant, the prosecution called on five witnesses, who tendered two exhibits of statement of the defendant and medical report.
Again, one Muazu Abdulrahman from Sabuwar Gwaram in Gwaram Local Government area on Jigawa state, was also accused of luring an 8 a year old pupil to Guinea corn farm to have canal knowledge of her, while returning from school.
On arraignment, the defendant denied committing the offence. However, the prosecution judge, called on three witnesses who tender three exhibits on statement of the defendant and medical report while the defendant testified as sole witness in his own defense.
Justice Musa Ubale, while delivering judgments through its counsel Yahaya Abdullahi, sentenced the suspects to life imprisonment under the provision of Section 283 of the Penal Code Law of Jigawa State 2012 as amended.
