The Jigawa state chapter of the Nigerian labour congress NLC, during it’s nationwide protests have called on the federal government to withdrawal its in human policies that have led Nigerians in to abject poverty.
The protest which started from the NLC secretariat, at Dutse the state capital, crowded with protesters from different location across the 27 councils of the state.
The protesters were seen on the street chanting, “Allow us to breathe, we are suffering, bring back our fuel subsidy, inflation is killing us, we don’t have a good life, many families exeriance broken home due cost of living”
Our reporter gathered that major participant in the protest were youths and women representing different part of the state which include NLC members, CSOs, Traders and other Individuals.
The state labour chairman, Comrade Sunusi Alhassan Maigatari, in his speech, said the reason for the peaceful protest is to show the government that the policies they imposed are too harsh on Nigerians and Nigerians could can not withstand it.
He advice the government to withdraw the policies especially the fuel subsidy removal which have increased the price of commodities and skyrocketing transportation to the level of life threatening.
On his part, the Jigawa state governor who was represented by his deputy engineer Aminu Usman Gumel promised to send the labour’s massage to the federal government for action.
He therefore appealed to the protesters to be calm and law-abiding so that the bad eggs among them will not take advantage of the protest to vandalize things on the process.
