The Kano State Hisbah Board has apprehend a truck loaded with over 24,000 bottles of different alcoholic beverages that were seized from smugglers at midnight.
While examining the truck that was taken from smugglers on Tuesday night along Zaria Road, the board’s Director General, Alhaji Abba Sufi, revealed this on Wednesday at the board’s headquarters.
“The truck containing over 24,000 bottles of assorted alcoholic beverages was confiscated from smugglers along Zaria Road at midnight,” Sufi said.
He mentioned the proactive enforcement of a zero-tolerance policy by the state’s Hisbah officers against the smuggling of alcohol and other intoxicating drugs into the state through its neighboring state borders.
In keeping with the state’s acceptance of Sharia, the DG praised the Hisbah staff for working with interested parties in the fight against beer smuggling into the state.
Fu’ad Dorayi, the acting Assistant Commander General of the board’s Intelligent Crimes Dispatch Unit, stated in his remarks that the truck driver and two other individuals had also been taken into custody.
Dorayi thanked Dawakin Kudu Hisbah Command and other residents for their help and asked them to report any suspicious product-carrying vehicles on certain roads, including as Kano/Zaria Road, Kano-Gwarzo-Dayi Road, Kano-Katsina Road, Kano-Maiduguri Road, and Kano-Hadejia Road
