Kebbi State Deputy Governor Col Yombe Dabai (Rtd) narrowly assassination after his convoy was attacked by armed bandits in the state
The attack which led to a gun duel between deputy governors security men and the bandits occurred along Kanya village in Danko/Wassagu local government of the State on Wednesday.
The Deputy Governor was said to be visiting some areas in the state affected by bandits activities when his convoy ran into a large number of bandits operating in Kanya community.
The Special Adviser to the Kebbi State Governor on Security matters, Rabiu Kamba who confirmed the development to TVC said the bandits were looting shops, houses, and rustling cattle in the area when the Deputy Governor arrived.
This prompted the Deputy Governor and soldiers in his convoy to attempt saving the villagers from the bandits but a gun battle ensued in the process.
One of the soldiers on the Deputy Governor’s security detail, unfortunately, lost his life during the gun battle while the bandits escaped with injuries and wounds.
Mr. Kamba however confirmed that the Deputy Governor was whisked away from the area without sustaining any injury.
