Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has said no final decision has been taken on the airports’ concession and the national carrier, Nigeria Air.
Recall that reports had emerged on Thursday that Keyamo had ordered the suspension of the projects, which were major projects under the aviation roadmap implemented by the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
The reports claimed that the minister gave the order during a tour of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, adding that the concession and national carrier would be on hold until further notice.
Raye24reporters learnt that the two projects became controversial following their approval a few days before the expiration of the Buhari government.
But in a post via his verified X (Twitter) handle on Thursday evening, the aviation minister said the airports’ concession and the national carrier were only suspended until all processes that are allegedly non-transparent and leading to those decisions are reviewed.
Keyamo added that the suspension will be lifted until all complaints are assessed for the benefit of Nigerians and President Bola Tinubu is fully briefed.
He wrote: “No final decision has been taken on the issues of airports’ concession and national carrier. They are only suspended until all processes that are ALLEGEDLY non-transparent and leading to those decisions are reviewed, and all complaints are assessed for the benefit of Nigerians, and Mr President is fully briefed.”
