Kogi State Assembly Legislator Dies on Sunday as Governor, State Legislators Mourn

A state Legislator in kogi state, North Central Nigeria, Hon. Jimoh Musa Omiata, has died barely two weeks to completion of his two-term tenure in the state assembly.

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has expressed shock over the passing of the member representing Yagba East State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, who died on Sunday in the wake of election period.

Mr. Omiata, died at a Lagos hospital after an illness. He was 57 and a two-term state legislator. He was a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

while describing his passing as a colossal loss to the state and the nation’s legislative organ.

The governor’s condolences were contained in a press statement issued to journalists in Lokoja on Monday by Chief Press Secretary to Kogi state Governor, Mr. Onogwu Muhammed.

“Today, on behalf of the people of Kogi State, I extend my deepest condolences to the family, Kogi State House of Assembly and friends of Hon Jimoh Omiata who passed away on Sunday evening after a brief illness.

Hon Omiata was a true patriot who dedicated his life to public service. He was a passionate advocate for the people he represented, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. We mourn his loss and will continue to honor his memory by upholding the values he championed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time. I pray to God Almighty to grant his soul eternal rest”, the governor said.

Governor Bello describes late Hon. Omiata as a refined politician with exemplary antecedents who served the state with integrity as a lawmaker.

Governor Bello added that the state has missed his great experience in legislative business and contributions to governance especially in the next dispensation.
