Man Commits Suicide Over hardship in Jigawa

A 40-year-old man have reportedly took his own life by hanging himself on the ceiling of a school in Marika village, Kiyawa local Government, Jigawa State.

According to a resident of area, the man was found hanging in a classroom at Miftahul Khairat Islamiyya and Primary School Gurdiba, on Thursday.

He said the deceased who was a family man was suspected to have committed suicide over the hardship in the country.

This was confirmed in a statement made available to newmen by the Police spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam.

According to him, “Police received report on Thursday that at about 1830hrs, a tragic incident was reported at the Command headquarters that, one Jibrin Adamu ‘m’ age 40yrs of Jigawar Maroka village, Kiyawa LGA has committed suicide by hanging himself over the ceiling at Islamiyya school.”

He said upon filing the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Kiyawa and his team were instructed by Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi psc, to promptly respond to the scene of crime.

Speaking further, Shiisu said upon reaching the location, the team discovered a lifeless body dangling from the ceiling of an Islamiyya classroom.

He said the corpse was swiftly evacuated and conveyed to Dutse General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the medical doctor on call.

The corpse was later released to the relatives for burial In accordance with Islamic teachings.

The Police spokesman said preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased occasionally had mental health issues that made him leave the house for several days.

He said an investigation had been launched to determine the exact cause of death.
