Ministry Lauds Aviation Workers For Embracing Automation System in The Workplace

The Federal Ministry of Aviation has lauded Aviation workers for embracing Automation in the various workplaces.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Aviation, Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan stated this in his opening remarks during the 9th Edition of the Aviation workers’ week and Award Night in Abuja. He also expressed his delight for the Aviation workers’ week which he described as part of activities by the Union to complement Management efforts of moving the industry forward.

His words: “Today, as part of its activities to complement Management’s effort at moving the industry forward, I am strongly convinced that this event is taking place with practically all Aviation stakeholders in attendance. I find the initiative of the organizers (union) quite commendable.”

He further noted that he found the theme of this year’s event “The Gains of An Automated Personnel Management System In The Aviation Sector” worthy of consideration in view of the importance of variable (Automation) under focus. “Indeed, Automation process by every standard, has become the norm in contemporary world of business and governance”, he added.

According to the Permanent Secretary, in consideration of the critical roles the industry plays in the nation’s economy vis-a-vis the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), adopting the Automation culture has become totally indispensable.

He also stressed that the relevance of the team of professionals is most likely to change the perception of workers and speedily embrace the Automation system in the various workplaces.

He also said: “Government’s recent stance on the need for a paperless work system and the launching of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy, all lend credence to the seriousness attached to issues of computerization, digitalization and automation.

The Ministry, in conjunction with the unions has taken the initiative to engage and sensitize all stakeholders in the 6 Geo-Political Zones of this paradigm shift.

The results, responses and reactions received from participants were quite overwhelming “.Mr Enitan also expressed his hope that deliberations among the team of professionals will bring to the fore the necessity to key into the Automation system with a view to moving the Automation industry forward.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman, Joint Consultative and Negotiating Council, Comrade Hector Nnadi, noted that overtime, the workers realized the countless potentials of the Automation system in driving the various sectors of any nation’s economy.

He also said that this trend has been the currency for some decades with countries moving further to other areas of digitization. He also noted that the quantum leap experienced in most advanced countries of the world through adoption of Automation is a visible testimony.

According to the Chairman of the Joint Consultative and Negotiating Council, the recent adoption of a National Policy on the subject and Government’s emphasis and plans on a change in our work culture underscores the future of Government and private businesses.

He noted: “As part of our mandates, we have in conjunction with Management been able to traverse the 6 Geo-Political Zones to sensitize Aviation workers and stakeholders on the importance and necessity for adoption of an Automated system and processes in our workplace”.

He stressed the resolve of the union to push through, the Automation culture through series of activities which he hope will lead to total adoption of this concept with a view to attaining the status of global citizens noting that for the event, they have been able to assemble a team of experts and professionals to the deliberate on the theme and proffer the way forward.

He also applauded the Minister of Aviation Sen. Hadi Abubakar Sirika and his Management team for tacitly supporting this year’s event. Earlier the Minister who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Abayode Boluwaji was presented with the Ministet’s birthday cake by the union.

The event was rounded off with award presentation of various categories to deserving staff of the Ministry.
