With the All Progressive Candidate presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, announcing Senator Kashim Shettima as his Vice President on an all-Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 general election, there have been mixed reactions since the announcement.
Speaking on the choice of all Muslim-Muslim tickets, MKO Abiola’s daughter, Rinsola Abiola, who was on AIT this morning, was asked by the journalist if “Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s profile and statute match the profile of her father, MKO Abiola.” In reply, Rinsola said, “The right thing to do would be to access each person based on what they have done, their careers so far, the lives they have touched.”
For her, since MKO, she would say Asiwaju is the only Southern politician who has built bridges across the country which is not easy to do and, with that, Tinubu has shown time and time again he has the interest of all parts of the country, that at heart and wouldn’t do a comparison between the two men but instead, look at them and access Asiwaju and Abiola both on their merit as her father gave his all, fought for democracy and if people who were active during that period, Tinubu contributed a lot to Nigeria’s struggle for democracy and with that he’s qualified to lead Nigeria by every standard.
