Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, NAOWA, and the National Human Rights Commission have agreed to strengthen their relations in the area of capacity building and advocacy.
The agreement was reached when the President, Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association, Mrs Salamatu Farouq Yahaya, visited the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Chief Anthony Okechukwu Ojukwu (SAN) in Abuja.
Mrs Yahaya in her remarks, outlined the objectives and activities of NAOWA, stating that, the purpose of the visit was to strengthen the existing synergy between NAOWA and NHRC, adding that she sort for more partnerships with the Commission in other Humanitarian means of assisting vulnerable groups in the society.
A visibly elated Executive Secretary, NHRC, appreciated the NAOWA President for the visit and stated that, the NHRC and NAOWA have similar objectives of rendering support to vulnerable persons.
He added that, a society thrives when the rights of women, children and vulnerable persons are protected.
He assured the NAOWA President of initiating a MOU that will further strengthen the collaborative activities of NHRC and NAOWA.
