NGO tasks schools on reading culture for national development.

Crystal Muslim Organisation, Non-Governmental Organisation, has tasked schools to inculcate reading culture to their students for national development,

Hajiya Maryam Idris Uthman, National Director for education at Crystal Muslim Organisation, made the call at 17th annual essay writing competition conference with the theme “Rising above Limitations, seeing opportunities in challenges” organized by the Organisation in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Hajiya Maryam Uthman, described the reading culture as one of the beast tools that can lift the person to a greater height in the world.

“Reading can never be emphasized, is very important, we really need our youths to start reading to become more informed and productive with your reading you can be able to know what is happening around you and to be part of the development of the country”.

“I called on the schools to encourage students to read more, research and cultivate in them generally so that they can contribute to the nation’s development. Hajiya Maryam Uthman”,

Guest speaker, Dr. Abdurrahman Alufa, Dean school of Islamic studies Afikpo Ebonyi State, Southern Nigeria, urged religious faithfuls to utilise the blessings of Allah toward socio-economic and religious development of the country.

Dr. Alufa, emphasized Muslims to be patients, prayerful and return to Allah whenever they go through hardship and difficult circumstance.

“When Allah loves you tests you with different challenges, calamities to strengthen your faith and give you the best here or hereafter when you resist the temptation of the evil”

In her remarks, Hajiya Maryam Lemu, lamented the danger and negative effects associate with social media platform in our society and called on the users to fear Allah and avoid too much concentration on it.

“The most dangerous element happening in our society is the issue of social media platforms, which creates chaos in our society beyond pandemic and other crisis, it destroys our norms and values, brings corruption and other social ills which need to checked”. Hajiya Maryam Lemu warned,

The National Ameer of the Organisation, Mr, Shatima Muhammad, said, the Organisation, has been doing great towards the development of education and through healthy essay writing competition, and the distribution of welfare services to the various communities that are in dire need.

Mr, Muhammad called on more schools to join the organization and participate in next year’s competition, for the development of educational sector in the country.

The winner of this year’s International essay competition among the three hundred entries, is the Crescent School Victoria Island, Lagos, South Western Nigeria, that won the big trophy, among other categories of prizes given to other participating students.

The Organisation, receives entries from Nigeria, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, United State of America, and United Arab Emirate.

Crystal Muslim Organisation, Non-Governmental Organisation, founded in 2006 by a group of Muslims professionals concerned about the misconception of Islam and Muslims in today’s society.

The aim is to develop the culture of reading and writing among the muslins, engage Muslims and non-Muslims in the art of reading genuine Islamic publications and engage in humanitarian assistance.
