The Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) has commenced its meeting on the coup in Niger Republic.
Raye24reporters gathered that the chairman of ECOWAS, President Bola Tinubu and other leaders are meeting in the State House in Abuja.
President Tinubu had scheduled another meeting after the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum the regional bloc issued for the reinstatement of President Mohamed Bazoum.
However, the military coup leaders ignored the ultimatum, resulting in additional sanctions by ECOWAS.
The regional bloc had threatened a possible military option; a move that was widely rejected, especially in Nigeria.
