Niger Republic Military Lifts Curfew

Niger Republic military coup leaders on Friday lifted the curfew they imposed after taking power from elected president, Mohamud Bazoum, on July 26, plunging the country into crisis.

“The curfew imposed since July 26, 2023, is officially lifted as of today,” according to a decree dated late Thursday and signed by coup leader Abdourahamane Tiani.

Raye24reporters reports that this is coming hours after the military junta in Niger, led by General Abdourahmane Tchiani, announced the end of the mandates of ambassadors to four countries.

The spokesman of the military junta said this in a statement read on the country’s national television.

The coup leaders said the mandate of the Nigerien Ambassadors to France, Nigeria, Togo, and the United States have been terminated.
