In a significant effort to empower Nigerian youth and tackle transportation challenges, the Federal Ministry of Youths Development, in collaboration with the Presidential CNG Initiative (PI-CNG), has commenced the distribution of 2,000 CNG-powered tricycles.
This initiative seeks to address the transportation needs of young Nigerians while promoting environmentally friendly solutions and creating economic opportunities for youth across the country.
Speaking at the launch ceremony in Abuja, the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, highlighted the importance of the program in providing sustainable transportation solutions and fostering youth empowerment.
She emphasized that the initiative would create avenues for skill development and economic growth among the youth demographic.
“The unwavering commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to alleviating the daily struggles of citizens, especially the youth, is evident in this initiative.
These CNG-powered tricycles will significantly ease transportation challenges and enhance the quality of life for Nigerians,” Dr. Ibrahim said.
She acknowledged the presence of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and other youth and student groups, applauding their continued efforts to represent the interests of Nigerian youth.
“With these CNG-powered tricycles and other ongoing initiatives, we are not just transforming transportation, we are building a brighter future for the youth of Nigeria. Together, we can ensure that our young people are empowered to lead and succeed,” she added.
The Hon. Minister, Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim gave her goodwill mesaage during the ceremony marking the distribution of 2,000 CNG-Powered Tricycles to youth in Abuja.
Also speaking, the Honourable Minister of State for Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande described the initiative as one of the flagship programs of the current administration.
He noted that the initiative is designed to reduce unemployment and improve the socio-economic well-being of Nigerian youth, women, and vulnerable groups.
“Entrepreneurship is a key focus of this administration, and through continuous empowerment efforts like this, we aim to create jobs and eradicate unemployment. We urge the beneficiaries to make the best use of these resources to support Nigeria’s economic growth and sustainability,” Comrade Olawande said.
In his remarks, the President of the National Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association (NATOMORAS), Usman Buba Gwoza, expressed gratitude to the government for fulfilling its promise to empower members of the association through the provision of CNG-powered tricycles.
He emphasized the vital role NATOMORAS members play in Nigeria’s transportation system and how this empowerment will support job creation, poverty alleviation, and environmental sustainability.
“We have come this far together with trust and commitment. We encourage the government to continue supporting us, recognizing the critical role NATOMORAS plays in the daily transportation needs of millions of Nigerians,” Gwoza said.
