Super Eagles Striker, Victor Osimhen has broken Cristiano Ronaldo’s record with a leap of 2.58 meters on Sunday during Napoli’s outstanding 3-0 victory against Spezia.
Victor Osimhen broke Ronaldo’s four years old record when he scored Napoli’s second goal of the game against Spezia at the Stadio Alberto Picco.
Although the Nigerian international has scored fantastic headers during his career, the goal against Spezia was truly extraordinary and may be a contender for the best-headed goal in football history.
After a scoreless first half, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia converted a penalty to give Luciano Spalletti’s team the lead. Osimhen then scored the game’s second goal with an incredible effort in the 68th minute.
Before beating Spezia goalkeeper Bartlomiej Drgowski, the 24-year-old Nigerian striker produced a breathtaking 71-inch leap, leaping to a height of 8.47 feet (2.58 meters), which was higher than the crossbar (8 feet).
According to Corriere dello Sport, Osimhen reportedly cleared 2.58 meters with the jump, a height that is typical of NBA superstars.
Osimhen achieved this feat by surpassing the previous mark for the Italian Serie A, which was 2.56 meters and was set by Ronaldo during Juventus’ match against Sampdoria in 2019.
The previous mark for Osimhen was 2.52 meters, which he achieved against Torino at the Diego Maradona Stadium in the previous campaign. Indeed, the Nigerian international has reached a new peak in his football career with this record.
