The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), of systematically rigging Saturday’s presidential and national assembly elections.
The party referred to the procedure for compiling and presenting presidential election results as a “sham.
Ladipo Johnson, a spokesman for the NNPP Presidential Campaign Committee, made this claim on Tuesday during an interview with the Arise News morning show.
Naija News recalls that Nigerians went to the polls to elect a new president and national assembly members on Saturday. Since INEC started collating and announcing the results, there have been misgivings among both candidates and the electorates.
The grievances of most of the descending voices have been around how INEC has been handling the results which was anticipated to be handled electronically, not manually.
While reacting to the entire process, Johnson expressed dissatisfaction with the way his party’s logo was written on the ballot papers.
“It was a sham. There was systemic rigging. We had an illegible logo on the ballot papers. The logo wasn’t legible to the people,” Johnson said.
He continued by saying that the NNPP is not a rival to any political party and that it has a message to the Nigerian people that is unique from that of other parties.
