The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Jigawa State Command has concluded all necessary arrangement to deploy 1050 personnel as part of measures to provide maximum security of lives and protection of Critical National Assets and infrastructure in the State during Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The State Commandant, Musa Alhaji Mala, ordered the deployment on Monday during a meeting with all  Heads of Departments, Units, Area Commanders and Divisional officers at the State Command Headquarters. The meeting was summoned to address the security challenges expected before, during and after the Yuletide with a view to addressing them.

The NSCDC State Boss tasked officers and men to be on their toes to ensure a crime free Yuletide by providing credible intelligence, round the clock surveillance and effective security coverage across all nooks and corners of the State. He commended the relative peace enjoyed in the State but says the Command will not sit back and rest on its laurels.

The personnel deployment cut across various Departments and Units including Anti-vandal, Armed Squad, Counter Terrorism, CBRNE, Intelligence, Operations, Disaster Management and Medical Units across the 27 Local Government Areas in the State with emphasis on strategic places such as worship and recreational centres, government installations, motor parks, markets, malls, and other vulnerable spots. Private Guards Companies (PGCs) are equally tasked to assist with intelligence gathering and sharing.

The Commandant advised residents to be vigilant, security conscious and report any suspicious movements to the nearest security formation. Parents are admonished to control and monitor the activities of their wards, especially the use of knockouts, underaged and reckless driving as such acts endanger their lives and that of the innocent members of the public.

Travellers using commercial transport are strongly advised to board taxis at designated motorparks not by the roadside as a case of suspected kidnapping was recorded in the month of October as a result of such.

While wishing the good people of the State a hitch free celebrations and a happy new year, the Command enjoined the good people of the State to remain law abiding and cooperate with his men and other security agencies to ensure successful Yuletide celebrations.
