Ogun state records four new cases of Monkeypox

The Ogun state Ministry of Health, through its Director of Public, Dr Festus Soyinka, has confirmed four new cases of Monkeypox, on Thursday.

According to Soyinka, two cases were recorded at Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, while one each has been confirmed in Abeokuta North and Abeokuta South.

He maintained that the “cumulative confirmed cases (of Monkeypox) in Ogun State is now seven.”

The Director revealed that the Disease Surveillance and Notification Officers (DSNOs) in the local governments have engaged in line listing and contact tracing of the patients.

It was said that the patient was on medication at an undisclosed hospital.

“LGA DSNOs have carried out line listing and contact tracing. DSNOs reported that the patients are on medication prescribed for them in the hospital,” Soyinka said.
