Yesterday was the governorship primary election in PDP across the nation. In Kaduna State, the former member of the Nigeria senate, Senator Shehu Sani, lost in the gubernatorial primaries. Before the election, Senator Shehu Sani was emphasizing that he won’t pay any delegate.
After the primary election, it turns out that it was only two delegates that voted for Senator Shehu Sani. After the election, Senator Sani declared that he would like to meet these two pure politicians who have the courage to vote for him without collecting a dime.
However, since he made the call, Senator Shehu Sani stated that he has received over 300 calls from different delegates claiming that they are the two people who voted for him.
In his exact words, Senator Sani disclosed:
“Two delegates voted for me without paying them kobo; But I have received over 300 calls from Different Delegates claiming that they are the two that voted for me and want to come and see me. See me see wahala abeg.”
This is actually laughable. This is to tell you how deep corruption has eaten into the fabrics of this great nation. Even those who collected money from aspirants are calling Senator Sani to still deny the two wonderful people that voted for him the privilege of meeting him.
The result of the primary elections across Nigeria yesterday is a clear indication that the people may even be more corrupt that the leaders.
The idea of money politics has killed electoral credibility in Nigeria. It is a terrible state of polity.
This implies that only those with huge funds and ready to share the money can win elections. How then do you expect that person to work for you, when elected?
