Orji Kalu Speaks on His Suspension by APC

The Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu has described those behind his reported suspension from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as politicians who have lost relevance.

The former Governor who is also the APC candidate for Abia North in Saturday’s election also added that it is only the NWC and NEC of a party that has the right to suspend him as a sitting Senator

Recall according to a letter dated February 21, the former Abia Governor was suspended by the state chapter of the APC for “acts of disobedience and gross anti-party activities.”

The letter which was jointly signed by the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, Paul Nwabuisi, State Secretary, Chief Chidi Avajah, and the State Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, added that Kalu who has been at loggerheads with many APC chieftains in Abia, “has remained unrepentant and without remorse despite several warnings.”

However, Kalu in an immediate reaction via a personally signed statement made available to Rays24reporters on Friday has rubbished his suspension, describing it as null and void.

He also accused the news platform that published it of feeding lies to members of the public and making itself available for political propaganda.

Kalu’s statement reads: “I am not worried when politicians who have lost relevance resort to propaganda and blackmail. I am only worried when respected media houses become agents of mischief.

“It is for this kind of mischief that the federal government is emphasizing on media regulations.

“Vanguard’s reported news on my suspension from the APC is highly unprofessional and embarrassing to the media house.

“I understand that the opposition’s only strategy is propaganda but “Vanguard” accepting to be used for such news shows another height of ignorance. Constitutionally, it is only the NWC and NEC of a party that has the right to suspend a sitting Senator.

“Vanguard has publicly taken political positions and it’s a great shame to feed the public with lies.”
