Outrage as Policemen Dehumanize Woman in Delta [Video]

A video showing police officers assaulting and dehumanizing a woman in Nikoro close, near Eghwere road, Agbarho in Delta State, has sparked huge outrage online.

According to reports, the victim identified as Martha Igbigbi was accosted by the police officers who visited her residence to arrest her son who wasn’t available.

In an viral video, the police officers who were five in number, including a female, ordered her to accompany them to their police station but she refused. The officers subsequently proceeded to assault the woman and tie her up before bundling her into their vehicle.

The victim who is partly unclad can be heard refusing to enter their vehicle as the police officers continued to dehumanize her.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Command has condemned policemen in the state responsible for manhandling a woman in a dehumanising manner.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the state Command, DSP Bright Edafe, made the disclosure in a statement issued on Sunday.

Edafe explained that after a careful examination of the video clip, it is clear and obvious that the policemen acted in an unprofessional manner unbecoming of police officers.

He said the command condemned the act of the policemen in totality stressing that no citizen deserved to be treated in such a manner, either by the police or anybody
