The Delta State Police Command has arrested one Emmanuel Umukoro for allegedly killing and setting his mother ablaze, Mrs. Fatima Umukoro, a school proprietress, in Warri, Delta State.
The ugly incident occured late Saturday night, leaving the community in shock
According to reports, neighbors were alerted when they noticed unusual activity at the Umukoro residence. Eyewitnesses stated that the house’s gate was left open around 10 PM, an unusual sight that prompted concern.
An eyewitness, who identified himself as Umoh, recounted the harrowing discovery. “When neighbors checked on the residence, they were horrified to find the house ablaze with the door wide open. Inside, they found the lifeless and charred remains of Mrs. Umukoro.”
The neighbors revealed that Emmanuel had been seen driving out of the compound at high speed in his mother’s car around 8:30 PM, raising suspicions. His suspicious behavior and attempt to flee led to his eventual arrest by police along the Sapele-Warri Road.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and stated that Emmanuel is currently in custody.
However, the police have yet to determine whether he is directly responsible for his mother’s death as investigations are still ongoing.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with neighbors describing the scene as horrific. Further updates are expected as authorities continue their investigation into the disturbing case.
