Police officers and youths have sealed off the All Progressives Congress (APC) Secretariat in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
This marks the fourth instance where the APC Secretariat has been shut down.
The closure occurs just ahead of a caucus meeting scheduled for Thursday by the Comrade Austin Agada-led State Working Committee (SEC) of the APC.
In a release, the Benjamin Omakolo-led APC State Working Committee (SWC) has also organized a caucus meeting today in Makurdi to finalize preparations for the upcoming Local Government elections.
The Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) has set October 5 as the date for the elections in the state.
Meanwhile, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has directed the immediate cancellation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Executive Committee meeting initially scheduled for Thursday, August 15, at the party’s secretariat in Makurdi.
The governor issued this directive during a press conference at the Government House in Makurdi.
The decision comes after two conflicting notices for the APC State Executive Committee meeting surfaced on social media, both set for the same date and time but at different venues.
Governor Alia, asserting his role as the party’s leader in the state, clarified that he was not informed of the meeting and has therefore ordered its cancellation.
