The Presidency disclose on Friday that President Muhammadu Buhari will still embark on his proposed medical trip to London.
Meanwhile, many Nigerians has expressed shock over President’s sudden return to the country.
This was made known in a short Twitter statement on Friday afternoon by the President’s personal assistant on new media, Bashir Ahmad.
This is contrary to the earlier statement released on President Buhari’s itinerary as Nigerians had earlier been told the country’s leader will fly out to the United Kingdom for a medical check-up after the Kenya event.
However, an update by Ahmad on Twitter says: “President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja, after his participation in the 50th Anniversary of the UN Environmental Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya.”
But speaking to Daily Trust, Buhari’s Media and Publicity assistant, Garba Shehu said the president will jet out to London on Sunday for his medical vacation.
He said Buhari had to return to Abuja after an early completion of his task in Nairobi, Kenya.
On whether Buhari had shelved his trip to London, Shehu said, “No, he hasn’t shelved his trip to London. The plan is still there. He finished his business in Kenya and made an early return. The trip to London is Sunday.”
Femi Adesina, Buhari’s spokesman, had earlier disclosed that the president will embark on a medical trip after attending the 50th Anniversary of the UN Environmental Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya.
“From Kenya, President Buhari will proceed to London for routine medical checks that will last for a maximum of two weeks,” Adesina had said
