President Tinubu Approves ₦10 Billion Take-Off Grant For Federal University of Education Pankshin

Following the newly established Federal University of Education, Pankshin (FUEP) in Plateau State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a ₦10 billion take-off grant.

The institution, which was recently upgraded from the Federal College of Education Pankshin, received this financial boost to aid its smooth transition and development.

Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, the representative of Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, announced the approval during the official unveiling of the university.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) was present for a site assessment at Pankshin Local Government Area in Plateau State.

Gagdi, who sponsored the bill for the institution’s upgrade, expressed his satisfaction, stating that this achievement was long-awaited, as the bill was signed by former President Muhammadu Buhari but had been delayed in its execution.

Gagdi revealed that while former President Buhari had approved the bill for the upgrade, issues within the Ministry of Education caused a delay in its implementation, leading to criticisms against him.

However, he felt vindicated as President Tinubu stepped in to ensure the grant’s approval, allowing the institution to commence its operations.

Gagdi said: “Buhari approved the bill overriding the Ministry of Education to commence immediately, but it became a big problem giving rooms for some people in social media castigating Gagdi to have lied.Today, I am being exonerated.

“I went and appealed to President Tinubu that, every New University always have a problem with getting releases from Tetfund and Mr. President approved over ten billion take off grant for the Federal University of Education Pankshin.”

The ₦10 billion take-off grant, approved by Tinubu, will be channelled through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to support the university’s foundational activities.

Additionally, the Federal Government has approved 161 staff recruitment slots to address the staffing needs of the new university.

Gagdi has since handed over the staff recruitment approval to the Chairman of the Governing Board, ensuring that the institution is well-equipped for its launch.
