The Aide to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Community Engagement (Northeast), Abdulhamid Yahaya Abba, have expressed a heartfelt appreciation for the warm reception and invaluable counsel extended by the Senate President during a recent gathering.
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio during a gathering on Tuesday, orchestrated a significant session with the Presidential Aides on Community Engagement.
The meeting which was attended by presidential aides representing each of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, with Abdulhamid Yahaya Abba among the esteemed attendees, was centered on strengthening communication links between the grassroots and the presidency.
Akpabio emphasized the crucial role of these aides as representatives of the presidency, highlighting their duty to provide detailed reports on grassroots activities.
While expressing his appreciation, Abba said, “We deeply value the Senate President’s warm welcome, assurances of collaboration with the national assembly and his insightful advice. His guidance has significantly influenced our strategy for community engagement.”
However, the aides, while conveying their gratitude for the collaborative environment fostered during the meeting, emphasizing their joint dedication to national progress, noted that Akpabio’s leadership was evident as he encouraged the aides to transcend political boundaries and offer feedback irrespective of party affiliations.
“We are tasked with a significant responsibility, which is to offer feedback. It is essential to acknowledge commendable initiatives, regardless of political affiliations,” remarked Akpabio.
Speaking further, Abdulhamid Abba emphasized the Senate President’s charge.
In his words; “We are the ambassadors of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which extends to all Nigerians, transcending partisan lines. Elections are behind us and now, we are squarely focused on governance.”
“The Senate President highlighted that despite numerous achievements within just a year of the present administration, much of it remains underreported. It is now our responsibility to effectively convey the President’s message to the grassroots and vice versa, a sentiment I wholeheartedly share with him,” remarked Abba. One of such achievements that Sen.
On his own part, Godswill Akpabio highlighted that it was the collaborative efforts between the National Assembly and the President that speedily facilitated the passage and signing of the Student Loan Bill into Law.
He emphasized the importance of Presidential Aides conveying this milestone at the community levels to ensure that the children of the masses, for whom the initiative is intended, can effectively benefit from it.
Abba, echoing the sentiments of his colleagues, added, “Although these are some of the things that we have been doing in our various zones, it is relieving and quite refreshing to have the assurances that we are on the right track from the leader of one of the most complete and eclectic representation of Nigeria’s sociocultural diversity.”
Abdulhamid Yahaya reiterated the commitment of all the SSAPs on Community Engagement to bridging the gap between the presidency and grassroots communities, ensuring that the voices and concerns of all Nigerians are acknowledged and addressed.
Abba treaded cautiously on their enthusiasm to continue engaging with the populace as a very noble call that they must fulfill.
He continued: “The capacity to meet some of these needs of the community when they come calling will significantly reduce the waiting time and increase the government’s goodwill among the people.”
