Over 80 resident have been displaced, following a heavy downpour which started on Friday till the early hours of Sunday, causing flood in some communities of Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Sources from the community, who spoke to newsmen on Sunday, said the incident have thrown the residents into panic as most of the affected persons are now stranded and in search of refuge.
According to Nandul Solomon, a resident of Angwan Bwarat in Sabon Gida community of Langtang South, “The flood didn’t claim lives but because it was huge, it displaced over 80 households.
“Some of the displaced persons are currently staying with neighbours, friends and relatives, while others are still left stranded.”
Also, Yintim Nimilam, the Community Development Secretary of Sabon Gida, lamented over the unfortunate incident.
According to him, several persons are currently displaced and staying with relatives.
“We appeal to government and relevant authorities (SEMA and NEMA) to come to our aid,” he added.
