Over 120,000 small scale farmers benefited from agric support in Jigawa with the aim of boosting the rice farming under Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria RIFAN in the state.
The secretary of RIFAN in Jigawa state Malam Ayuba Magaji Ayuba, said this year over 50,000 has so far registered on rice farming programme coming up before the rainning season.
Magaji confirmed that rice seed, insecticide, agro chemical, fertilizer, water pump machine as well as water force and manual fertilizer would be distributed to farmers at cheapest prices.
Alhaji Ayuba explained only three local government in the state will not be among the beneficiaries in the programme due to the problems of water in their areas but the rest 24 council will be beneficiaries.
He stated that Assured that farmers from the program, will pay their loan with rice after cultivation.
He also dismissed the claims that they are using their office to bring in politics into farming. In his reaction, he explained that politics is separate from farming but ” I am a politician I cannot deviates from politics ” he stated.
Ayu added “it is very shameful to our representative at national assembly Engineer Magaji Da,u, you are representing Buji birnin kudu as the chairman of power committee at the national assembly but he cannot provide power to Buji communities no light in Buji for years which kind of representation is that” he stated.
If I am elected, light won’t be a problem i will focus on social security and how I can empower youth because my priority will be on human development and improved agricultural projects and I assured I will do my best to solve this problem of electricity supply to Buji communities, he said.
Member could not do his job parading himself on luxuries and passion living at luxury houses, living extravagances life style while people you are representing finds it difficult to eat three square meal in a day what kind of representation is that, he expressed.
