Six people have been confirmed dead and five others missing as a boat capsized in Gbara area of Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger state.
Raye24reporters learnt the incident occurred by 6 pm on Friday with 48 passengers on board.
The boat was said to have taken off from Lanchikagi village in Lavun Local Government Area and heading to Gbara village when the boat capsized.
The Niger State Emergency Management Agency, (NSEMA), confirmed the incident attributing it to heavy downpour of rain which was accompanied by violent windstorm.
The Director General of the Agency, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Inga said that 37 persons survived while six bodies have been recovered.
He said that five people were still missing as the search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
